As 6th and 9th, August 1945 rested lazily in the history books and memorials
A tug and a shove awoke them from the ‘political’ amnesia and slumber
‘Make way for your new roommates’
5th August 2019-20 Kashmir, and Ayodhya
Asked the confused history books
‘Another nuclear war?’
‘No. A war on humanity and compassion’.
While compassion was put in lockdown on 5th August, 2019
Humanity was decimated on 5th August, 2020’
‘But not as destructive as my children’ pipped 1945
‘A thousand times more and the ultimate destroyer of worlds’- squeaked 2019 & 2020
While ‘Little Boy’ and ‘Fat Man’ wreaked havoc on your lives
It was masses of men and boys who scarred us on August 5
While nuclear radiation continued to haunt your bosom
The radiation of hatred tore us down to our bottom
While ‘Hibakushas’ still languish on their lives
An entire population continues merrymaking by stabbing us with pellets and knives
History was shamed in 1945
‘History was corrected’ in 2019-2020
Nations heal after a nuclear holocaust
But is healing possible when jubilation is achieved at humanity’s cost?
One B-29 bombed you on that fateful day
While millions of B-29 rushed down on me in Ayodhya
As the Allies drank to their victory seeing your ruins
Populations burst crackers on seeing my chains in Kashmir
Drunk on nationalism, religion, and victory
Wounds were inflicted on us in 1945 and 2019-20
As bandages were being wrapped around on 6th and 9th August
5th August was blown to smithereens
Though divided by a century in timeline
Our assaulters were the same
Humans converted to zombies
Who ate on humanity to derive their glory
Invisible were the residents of Hiroshima
De-humanised were the people of Kashmir
Vengeance was continued to be extracted by the 1947 US occupation
The fires of revenge were blowing since 1992 and 1987’
‘O, poor children. Do not despair’ cried 1945
‘Come by and grab your warm bed, O Dear’
‘We are merely dates memorized for exams
Even after 2019-20, Sapiens will be dumb
Don’t worry about them, just doze off
In the cozy pages of the history book, my chums’.
‘Rightly said O Roomie’ cried 2019-20
‘Despite Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Humans went on the nuclear-arming spree
From Hiro-dhya and Nagash-mir
Would humans care to learn and heal?
