Liberation from ‘Freedom’: A philosophical enquiry

4.2/5 (2)

“The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are;
You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act;
You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask.”

Jim Morrison

Freedom is that magnificent masterstroke, which provides you a measureless, unbounded, manacle free field where the game is only between you and your choices. As a rational existent you can enjoy your choices in the fringe of freedom, no mistrustfulness it’s a veritably prestigious term in the contemporary, cultivated and constituted mortal world. If you’re upholding your freedom, you’re considered – apprehensive and admired one. Freedom is multifaceted, one can understand this politically, philosophically, sociologically, psychologically and numerous further.

Although it’s multifaceted in nature in colorful aspects, it always carries its introductory roof that’s ‘free’. So, the question is free from what? from where? and from whom? It also has multifaceted answers, which vary from person to person and from one subject to another. Might be one person’s freedom came another person’s trouble. We know that’ freedom’ is good but we also know that and also witnessed from time to time that intemperateness of anything redounded in the worst in the future, irrespective of’ good’ or’ bad’, like taking care and supporting a child is good but inordinate care and support affect negatively in the children’s mores and proprieties. So, inordinate freedom also can affect worst in the future. The thinking point is that, is everyone really enjoying their freedom or are they just creating their comfort zones? Is everyone trapped in the sweet pen of freedom? In the current time, by enjoying colorful freedoms, we forget the value of freedom, in this regard there’s a quotation of Malala Yousafzai, “We realise the significance of our voices only when we’re silenced.”

Limit the Freedom

Whatever we see, hear, understand, suppose or judge is always partial; it’s neither absolutely ‘true’ nor ‘False’. For one’s side it’s always a ‘partial verity’ until and unless we know the contrary aspect or perspective of the same. As a mortal being everyone knows that ‘mortal wants are unlimited’, it always runs for further and further. In this regard the conception of ‘metaphysical freedom’ evolves that, whether mortal beings retain genuine free will or not. As a mortal being we do so numerous effects without allowing the consequences because we’re free.

There are ample examples for this, like those who have a lot of plutocrats – coffers and material substance they just wasted their coffers on gratuitous effects. Is this waste of coffers or not, or they’re simply enjoying their freedom? Yes, no mistrustfulness by the heritable effects one can pierce the asked freedom but it also restricts their future and tone. So, we’ve to avoid our freedom? Not at each but just limit it. Just for illustration you’re free to take as important as the food you want but just take according to your hunger and give the remaining to the indigent. By limiting the freedom and participating in your freedom you can feel a different vibe of your freeness. Still, relaxing, delaying and cataloging which eventually make our work pending.

If we’re free to do any particular thing without any restrictions then we begin to take it veritably casually. Like the story of Ravan from the ‘Ramayana’ that, Ravan wants to make a graduation to heaven but he couldn’t make it. He was full of coffers, man power, free will but still he wasn’t able to do so only because of his/her procrastination which came from his/her inordinate freedom to coffers. Also what’s the advantage of being prosperous, free and enjoying the freedom? Limiting freedom also helps collectively, it helps the individual to suppose out of his/her box of freedom, gives a new kind of experience. Which also helps the individual to get out of his/her comfort zone, break the chain of easiness and motivate to work on his/her decided thing.

Break Self-Slavery

In the present time nothing will be a slave and also not want to join this term within them. But what’s your answer if I said, everyone were slaves, so slaves of whom? the slaves of themselves, but how? Everyone is bounded by their own mind and will. No doubt everyone has great and strong will but there’s a stronger will than all of that which is stopping them or delaying them to do their work in time or before the time, and eventually by subconsciously everyone becomes the slave of that will, which originates from our own mind. So, we’ve to realize it before and have to bring our knowledge that for the sake of our freedom to enjoy, we’re immolating with our workshop and pretensions. Else it’ll be too late to get back to the track like the story of the mouse; there’s a mouse who set up an open jar with full of grains in the kitchen, without wasting a second he begins to eat the grains, after some time he finishes half of the jar also he thinks he has enough time and enough grains, at last he finishes the jar with a full stomach and when thinking about how to get out from the jar now? he realizes that he’s trapped.

The top most freedom is to be free from our own mind

Because our minds aren’t in the control of our own, rather we’re under the control of our minds and become a slave of our own minds. And yes, it’s also true that controlling one’s own mind isn’t an easy job at all. But by doing so we can break the chain of our tone – slavery and which will also pave the way for real freedom. Friedrich Nietzsche said, ” Freedom is the will to be responsible to ourselves.” So, it’s our responsibility to attain freedom and also our will to be responsible to ourselves. If we aren’t responsible for our deeds, we might not be suitable to achieve freedom. Because everything we’re doing is for ourselves. What’s the point of being reckless for our choices? It simply denotes that, if we become responsible about what we’re doing and how these effects are going to shape our future, automatically we become conscious about ourselves and we can also break the chain of our tone- slavery. Which eventually helps us to attain real freedom and also free from the intemperateness of freedom, what we can also call as the ‘overdose of freedom’. The comical thing of tone- slavery is, it’s unnoticeable in nature. When we begin to observe ourselves and assess ourselves purposely, we can realize that we’re free from outside but slave by our inner tone. Yes, no mistrustfulness it may sound veritably philosophical but it’s true in nature.

Free from Freedom

There’s a so-called notorious quote, “people never value the free effects” and ‘freedom’. Perhaps it takes time to understand the real meaning of it and occasionally it’s also too late. We all enjoy the free effects without any single question but can we give away our dreams for free? The answer will be ‘no’ but eventually in the realm of freedom we completely forget about our dreams, purposely or subconsciously our dreams or pretensions hit our minds but the cure of freedom makes ourselves paralyzed to respond to that thinking. We all are well apprehensive about the consequences by assessing our present action but still we all prefer to face the consequences rather than confining our present conduct.

“Freedom isn’t an ideal, it isn’t indeed a protection, if it means nothing further than freedom to stagnate, to live without dreams, to have no lesser end than an alternate auto and another TV set,” by Adlai Stevenson II. We always find our happiness, peace, pleasure, enjoyment outdoors, in the materialistic effects but all the asked effects are within ourselves but we never explore our inner tone. There’s a beautiful quotation by Osho that “True freedom is always spiritual. It…can not be chained, shackled, or put into a jail.” It isn’t that important or delicate to free from the freedom and it also is not so easy – but yes, there’s a way of everything – to limit our inordinate freedom, by conscious tone observation, by breaking our own comfort zone and with little fidelity everyone can ‘free from the freedom’ and also can attain the real aroma of freedom.
